MTB Overview

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

 

  • Bicycle helmets that satisfy current Australian standards are compulsory and must be fitted properly.
  • Full-face helmets are compulsory for Down Hill.
  • Long sleeve top and pants made of a durable material are compulsory for Down Hill
  • Fully enclosed shoes are compulsory for Down Hill
  • All bicycles used at ASCC competitions must be in a serviceable condition, bicycles must have fully functional brakes on both front and back. Handle bars & extensions must be securely plugged to prevent injury

While neck braces and body armor are not mandatory in Down Hill events, ASSC strongly
recommends the use of such by ALL participants in this discipline.

 

 
MTB Cross Country (MTB XC): Points are awarded position across the line with the race being determined on time rather than distance. Riders will start in waves according to their category. Please Note: The course start/finish is at the base of Mt Major. The laps are:

 

The laps are:

  • Snr Male Expert - 4 laps (approx 1 hr 18”)
  • Snr Male Novice – 3 laps (approx 1 hr)
  • Snr Female Expert – 4 laps (approx 1 hr 18”)
  • Snr Female Novice – 2 laps (approx 40”)
  • Jnr Male Expert – 3 laps (approx 1 hr)
  • Jnr Male Novice – 2 laps (approx 40”)
  • Jnr Female Expert – 2 laps (approx 40”)
  • Jnr Female Novice – 1 laps (approx 20”)

 

*Note the lap time is an average for the course.

MTB Down Hill (MTB DH): Each competitor will complete 2 runs. Times will be added to arrive at the overall competition time. Timing for the MTB DH will be provided by Event Timing and will use gate timing equipment (i.e. no transponder is required)
