Road Racing Overview

Road Bikes only permitted for use during road events listed below (please see further rules below)

INDIVIDUAL TIME TRIAL (ITT):

Individual Time Trial: A race against the clock, with riders departing at designated intervals. A rider is responsible for being on the start line at the necessary time. A rider’s time will be taken from their time of start if they miss the start time. A rider will be required to have their own "holder" who will hold the rider upright to start the race (ie no pushing). This may be another rider or teacher/parent.

All riders start times will be listed at the start area to be viewed prior to competition

TEAMS TIME TRIAL (TTT):

A minimum of 3 riders and maximum of 4 riders can contest the Teams Time Trial with the time being taken on 3rd rider across the line. If a school enters more than one team, points are awarded to the highest placed team. Rider will start from a standing start.  The team may consist of both novice and expert riders in the following categories: Snr U16, U17, 18&U; Jnr U13, U14, U15.

ROAD RACES (RR): Road Races:

The Road Race results will be taken on the riders placing across the line at the finish of the event. Riders start in a bunch, and their position across the finish line and the points allocated to that position will count to the teams overall tally.

  • Repaired mechanicals: Rider finishing position applies, i.e. no free lap.
  • Dropped riders will be withdrawn by officials (Any rider crossing the finish line 10 mins behind leader crossing the finish line)
  • All participants to compete in their registered event: NO changing of categories permitted

SRAM will provide two service areas and a roving "moto" to tend to the road events. Neutral support will only be provided in the U18/17 Expert Road Race – all other competitors must carry spares. In Yr U18/17 Expert  category, if you have what is deemed as a mechanical problem with your bike, e.g flat tyre, broken spoke, snapped chain, etc, you are entitled to either flag down the roving moto or head directly to the SRAM neutral pits. If you flag down a roving moto you must always stop on the left side of the road for assistance. The best way to get attention and alert other competitors to your mechanical is to put one hand in the air and slowly move to the left side of the road making sure you don’t interrupt any other riders off in the process.

Please ensure that you arrive at the event with your bike set up to your needs. You can visit a local bike shop prior to the event to obtain the information, equipment and set up that you need. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THIS UNTIL THE EVENT. Please Note: If participants are unable to fix their technical issue on course during the race a sag wagon will be on course to pick up the rider and their bicycle and return to the start/finish line. This vehicle REMAINS at the back of the race at all times. Please wait for this vehicle to pass and flag down if needed.
